Candlewood Suites Grand Island by IHG

Beautiful hotel with very nice rooms. We chose it because we wanted a separate sleeping area from our kids, and it worked great as they had plenty of room. The pool was a bit on the cold side, but the kids had fun anyways.

The room is great, clean, and everything is in working order. I travel a lot and this has been one of the best rooms I've stayed in for the price.

Nice convenient location. Clean establishment. Friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again.

Everything was great inside and outside the room. I will be happy to stay again as a member. But what really inspired me to write the review was an employee named Kayla. I had a headache from travel and was sitting in the lobby drinking coffee so I wouldn’t wake my wife. I overheard Kayla welcoming a steady stream of guests at midnight. Having been in my own business I learned how to retain customers and taught it to employees. Make them feel happy to be here is the start to a long term relationship. Each customer Kayla did that with a smile that was genuine. It all starts at that front desk. Way to go Kayla and Candlewood Suites!

** Update Candelwood took responsibility for things that happened. But be warned do not book online for reservations anymore. ***Been coming to Candelwood for over 10 years now with our kitties. Some of the employees even remember them which is sweet. Room is always great and usually everything about the stay is great. Sadly this time we had issue with an employee on Christmas about borrowing one chair for our elderly Grandpa that was coming over for supper. Hubby eventually got the chair but the fact it was such an issue is sad. Other issue was we had to leave 1 day early due to the winter storm coming in. Hotel refused to update our reservation to not pay for the extra day. The customer service people said that the hotel itself is the only one that can fix it. Candelwood says they cannot change the reservation dates because we “advanced” paid, meaning we paid ahead of time for the room. I am shocked the hotel would purposely take money from guests who are not staying. Especially knowing that winter blizzard was coming in. I’m extremely sad about this and will have to figure out if we should return or stay at Suburban Studios instead.

Nice rooms. Couch and recliner very uncomfortable. Recliner reminds me of one you would have in a nursing home or hospital room- not made for someone 6'3" Drain in shower runs super slow, will have ankle deep water in tub by time your done showering. Pull tab on water Spout to start shower didn't turn off water for tub completely so pressure on shower head was minimal, and caused the ankle deep tub water too. Ice maker in refrigerator was very loud and slow making ice. Toaster in room needs replaced, have to turn 3/4 way up to brown bread. The free clothing laundry is nice for long travels, just have to provide your own detergent which is understandable. We have stayed in numerous IGH hotels, we are a Silver member, the staff are super unfriendly and ignore you when walking by them. When you walk into the front doors, unless you go to the front counter, they stay in the room behind the glass and just glare at you, no wave or contact. Someone needs to train them with the 6 feet and greet technic used by most businesses or even basic customer service, so your guests feel welcomed and acknowledged. Night stand in bedroom not CPAP friendly, lamp in middle of the stand attached, would be better mounted on the wall.

Clean, comfortable, and spacious rooms. Lobby is nice with lots of seating. Front desk staff were friendly. This was so much better than the Hampton across the street (where I stayed last time I was in the area). I will absolutely stay again when in the area and would recommend. Great stay! Update: For all reviews that mention the lack of breakfast, the front desk staff made this extremely clear during check-in that this is an Extended Stay hotel that does NOT offer breakfast. I do agree that the price per night can get expensive, especially for the middle of Nebraska.

The rooms are very large and clean. Everything you need to cook meals. No breakfast served here but that’s why you have a kitchenette.
